Referee Opportunities at Birmingham City FC Academy

31st Jul 2018

We are looking for referees to officiate our Academy games during the 2018/19 season.

Matches take place at the Trillion Trophy Training Ground in Kings Norton and are played either on grass or 3G pitches depending upon the age group.

Game formats are mainly 7 v 7 small sided matches or 11 v 11 matches played on full sized pitches.

During the season age groups U9-U14 mainly play on Sunday mornings and U16-U18 age groups play on Saturday morning. There is also the possibility that you could take part in officiating in some U23 friendly games depending on experience.

The games are extremely well organised and competitive, being played against English Football League or Premier League opposition. You will gain valuable grounding in a controlled environment prior to progressing up the refereeing pyramid officiating open age games.

These games are ideal for young or newly qualified match officials.

We are also looking at ways to put our referees through qualifications & further development opportunities, to increase the quality of referees within the programme.

All referees must be registered with the Football Association via their County FA office.

A match fee will be paid commensurate with other local leagues. The games can be officiated by both male and female referees

Our programme start in September and runs through until May. You will be expected to act as referee or assistant referee depending upon the age group playing.

If you would like to take part either every week or maybe just doing one or two games each month then contact our matchday coordinator Dan Ferrar by email at dan.ferrar@bcfc.com to confirm your interest.
